Allen Creek offers Summer Camp programs for preschoolers aged 3 to 6 in Summer 2010.

A BOOK-A-DAY

Ages 4-6 years old
June 14th-17th (12 Students)
In this camp we will explore a new book each day. The story will be used as the basis for follow up activities during large and small group time. Children will have the opportunity to expand the story’s themes throughout the day. Art, dance, and cooperative games will be the vehicles for these story stretching experiences.

SPORTS AND GAMES

Ages 4-5 years old
June 21st-24th (12 Students)
Physical fitness, large motor movements and desire to work with others will be the focus of this camp. We will use children’s skills in running, hopping, throwing and catching to introduce simple cooperative learning activities. Beach ball balance, cooperative balloons through hoops, and Simon Says No Elimination are just a few of the games we will enjoy this week. Children will experience turn taking and collaborative indoor games and enjoy the opportunity to design their own board game. We will focus on the experience of playing the game, as opposed to the outcome. Everybody wins and everybody has fun.

PARADE FUN FOR 4th OF JULY PARADE

Ages 3-6 years old
June 28th-July 1st & July 4th (12 Students)
In this camp we will create traditional American art, paint red, white and blue T-shirts, play cooperative games, learn about the United States of America and unite together to decorate wagons, bikes and flags for the Ann Arbor 4th of July Parade on Saturday, July 4th. Please join us is in our pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.

NATURE EXPLORATIONS

Ages 3-5 years old
July 5th -8th (12 Students)
Come observe and explore the science in Allen Creek's backyard. Children will compare, order and categorize a variety of different objects. We will find and identify insects, collect sticks, and leave s for projects, investigate dirt and soil and make sun pictures.

DETAILS

Camp is a nice way to meet new families, maintain our connection with children and families in the summer, and also serve as an introduction to Allen Creek for newly enrolling families. The camps offer a developmentally sensitive approach to education in a different venue than the program offerings of the regular school year. Children will enjoy the consistency of a daily schedule that blends outdoor experiences with small and large group gatherings. There will be times for children to work on individual and collaborative activities, based on the topic for the week.
